VISIONS

Given that Sergei Prokofiev’s Visions fugitives are central to this recording, Visions is a fitting title for a CD devoted to works that differ greatly in style, atmosphere and artistic intent, including the stately court music of Henry Purcell, the elegantly classical world of Maddalena Lombardini, the exalted passions of Guillaume Lekeu, the existential fears of Elizabeth Maconchy, the controlled romanticism of Felix Mendelssohn and the musical iconoclasm of Igor Stravinsky. Visions introduces the listener to a constantly changing world and reflects the many forms that music for a string quartet can take. We wish you much pleasure in listening to it. 

The members of the EnAccord String Quartet bring not only an energetic persuasiveness but also superb technical skills and great musical perception to their performances. Their eye for detail in a score, finely balanced sound and lively interaction assures the listener of a fresh and intriguing musical narration. 

The EnAccord Quartet has won renown over the last twenty years thanks to success in several important Dutch competitions as well as international competitions in Vienna and in Trondheim. The EnAccord Quartet was awarded the Kersjes Prize in 2010, this being awarded yearly to an exceptionally talented artist or ensemble working in chamber music in the Netherlands. The Quartet studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne with the members of the Alban Berg Quartet; they have also taken part in countless master classes with renowned string quartets. 

The EnAccord String Quartet appears regularly in both large and small venues for chamber music in the Netherlands and abroad. They have performed in concert series such as the Zondagochtendconcert and Jonge Nederlanders at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and in the Concertgebouw in Bruges.
