Koos Verheul was for many years the principal flutist of the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague. At the same time he was professor of flute at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. As soloist he performed at many important music centers in the USA, Europe, South America and Japan. In addition to the well known concertos for flute, he performed new compositions for flute and orchestra, conducted by Boulez, Maderna, Bour and Zender. He and the pianist Jan van der Meer have been a regular duo for more then fifty years.
