(…) quel talent ! (…) un chant impeccable, clair, bellement projeté, chargé de toutes les émotions (…) Le Figaro With (…) Oliemans, all is beautiful: the intimicy of his bass and top-register, the admirable voix-mixte, the pleasant nasality, and sharpness with that wonderful silver lining. Jurjen Vis, Financiëel Dagblad Baritone Thomas Oliemans makes a fine debut with Etcetera Records giving a recital of 'mélodies' by Poulenc and Fauré. With great sensitivity to text and music, excellent pronunciation and a voice of rare beauty, Oliemans lures the listener into the different worlds presented by the two French composers. Dutch baritone Thomas Oliemans (1977) graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory, coached by Margreet Honig. In 2002 he won the Prix Bernac of the 'Academie internationale de Musique Maurice Ravel'. In 2005 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in Schreker's Die Gezeichneten (Gonsalvo Fieschi). Further debuts followed in 2006 with the Opera of Nantes and Angers (Papageno) to great public and critical acclaim and at the Opera de Genève (Guglielmo). Most recent appearances include Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) with Scottish Opera, Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) at the Opéra de Toulouse, Silvano (Un Ballo in Maschera) and Le Grand Prêtre (Castor et Pollux) at the De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, Sonora (Fanciulla del West) with the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Tarquinious (Rape of Lucretia) with the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and Gent. Thomas Oliemans appears regularly on the concert stage and has collaborated with renowned conductors as Kent Nagano, Edo de Waart, Jaap van Zweden, Claus Peter Flor, Yakov Kreizberg, Neeme Järvi and Riccardo Chailly. He is already a sought after recitalist and had the pleasure to work with pianists as Enrico Pace, Malcolm Martineau and Bert van der Brink.
