Songs for marimba’ written early 90’s - meanwhile completing other works - and now 25 years later ‘Focus 24 images for vibraphone’ gave me the awareness that this might be my life path: searching the need for vibraphone and marimba repertoire in order to try to help the young ones. ??Back in the time, while studying with Robert Van Sice, I discovered some need of easy repertoire for the marimba, so ‘Image’ was born. These days we still need some vibraphone repertoire of intermediary level: now assembled in ‘Focus’. Writing ‘Focus’ is the result of a 25 year-process of listening, searching, writing, studying, playing, recording in so much different situations: so many great musicians I had the privilege and the pleasure to play with, a lot of different kinds of music, ensembles, orchestras, places, cultures. Finally all those ingredients together result in the composition ‘Focus’ and in playing these miniatures.

This project was realized within the research project of Bart Quartier at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and with the support of the research fund of the Erasmushogeschool. The Koninklijk Conservatorium is a department of the Erasmushogeschool and partner in the Universitaire Associatie Brussel.
